Finished a little arcade-type game that I made for the NES a few years back. Decided to bring it over to the pico8 and tweak a few things along the way.
You can change your shoe/glove color with colors you pick up throughout the game.
Should be pretty self explanatory.
Have fun. :)
Wow, this is a lot more detailed (and hard) than the screenshot would lead one to believe. Hints of DK Jr. I like it. :) Good music, too.
When you say you did this for NES a few years back, did you do it as homebrew, then? Or was it quite a few years back?
Yeah, I did it as a homebrew back in 2013 I believe. :) Thank you so much for playing!
Such a fun game. Been playing it using my pico 8 pi. Very challenging! I really like the warp mechanic later on! Being familiar with the NES game as well, I really enjoyed the fresh new soundtrack for the game.
This is a really cool cart. The game is somewhat frustrating, but the instant respawn and additive tries give it that 'just one more' gravity that keeps you playing.
My only issue is the use of btnp for the sideways controls; the delay before continuous presses has to be accounted for by the player when assessing the metrics of the level, which in turn can affect strategy. The added depth is cool, it just feels less intuitive to me than immediate movement.
I'd agree with Lafolie about using btnp(). I think you should make your own autorepeat without the initial extended delay. The slow start, then rapid repeating, threw me off a number off times too.
Good game ! Reminds me quite a bit of Donkey Kong Jr. He had parallel bars similar.

The school page seems to be missing the pink line - if you want authenticity.
