Dig Dig is an infinite driller game. You control a tiny little driller digging for gold and gems and maybe even some cool skulls! Collect fuel canisters along the way to keep the adventure going.
Includes a high score table as well, so get cracking!
Controls:
Arrow Keys - Drill in that direction
Pretty intense waiting for those fuel cans to show up. An enjoyable experience. :)
looks good! but too slow, so it gets tedious. I think you should cut through dirt like butter, and make gem mining 2 or 3 times faster.
a litlle bit at odds with what's what. the square gems look more like obstacles. also at first I was avoiding the skulls, but that's ok, it was nice to discover I could collect them (didn't rtfm) :)
@ultrabrite the speed was slightly intentional, but I can see how it could feel slow. I might play around with drill times and fuel depletion etc.
actually I think I got it backwards. digging the gems is a real chore, so I boldly avoided them. that's when i had fun: trying to go deeper from cavern to cavern (thus limiting your fuel consumption) while avoiding obstacles.
so here's another suggestion: leave dirt digging as is, make gems instantly collectible, add harder rocks, a little more voids.
I agree with ultrabrite's (second) assessment. The game is fun, but the gems feel like obstacles rather than rewards.
And I wouldn't complain if the whole thing ran 2x as fast, but it's fun as is, trying to find a good, efficient path through the dirt.
This is a promising game and design, I enjoyed playing it, but I am surprised nobody commented on the music! Loved the music. Great job!
@gradualgames Thanks! Yeah, making the music in Pico-8 was super fun!
@ultrabrite + @apLundell Great suggestions. I actually based some of the drilling mechanics on an old flash game I played years and years ago, which based drill time on rarity. But I like the idea of making them instantly collectible or at least quicker to drill through. I'll probably bump fuel consumption a little too then to keep that sense of urgency around finding fuel cans.
Really great feedback everyone :)
