Just wanted to ask whether there is an official PICO-8 mascot? Could it be Jelpi?
If not I think the community should probably decide on one since most platforms got their mascot.

Don't see why PICO-8 needs a mascot. It already has a logo and specific font.
I agree that there should be a mascot. It would be cool if someone made a few solid sprites for a mascot character that could be used by developers for the platform to create a series of games similar to the large number of sonic, mario, etc games.
I have a few suggests for a potential mascot. I think they have potential but I wanted to see what you guys think of them.

New to Pico-8 and the community, but I thought as ultrabrite did that Jelpi was the mascot. Just from the first time I visited the website. Haha
I didn't even know Jelpi had a name but I still considered them the mascot lol
I've been toying around with the idea of doing Pico-Golf. Maybe I should use Jelpi as the golfer? What is the thought on here with using other people's sprite designs? Ask first, I assume? Or just open?
At first I was also like, there's a logo and a font, what else do you want? But once sloum mentioned the golf game, I flashed back to the Nintendo of my childhood and remembered how Mario was basically a placeholder that made things Nintendo-y. Maybe mascot is too strong of a word. I would like to see people throw out ideas for an open source type character that could be used for non-essential characters to create Pico-8-ness. Jelpi is great, but I don't think super flexible for using in various roles.
Yeah! That is how I was thinking of it. A character that can appear in games, sometimes as the star, sometimes as an easter egg or background character. Just something to bring things together as part of the same console. It isnt necessary, but could be fun.
What about the pico-8 palette starburst thing? The thing in the logo:
I think that could be used as an easter egg powerup/point bonus thing. Like the Hudson Bee, or that swirl thing Capcom used in the NES era.
Also, it should probably play the pico-8 'system boot-up' noise when you pick it up.
Sounds like we need to get a Jelpi Jam going over here, where we all just make different genres of games starring Jelpi. I could easily see a kart racer being made featuring Jelpi as the main character alongside a cast of some of zep's default avatar characters, liberties taken where necessary.
If you want to use the Pico-8 logo and the boot sound effect, though, I have an old cart for that.

Does anyone know where to find a collection of the default forum images? Are they just randomly assigned?
I don't know the specifics of how they're assigned (probably by user id), but there's 32 in total. Here's a wall of pixels. You may recognize some characters already being used in Voxatron. I'm not sure which came first.
btw, I've retouched the avatars to fit the pico8 palette (merely importing them didn't work well):
