Wow, I love wandering around being flirty and mutually supportive with a bunch of pirate buddies!! Truly, a game that is relevant to my interests.
I'm also so impressed you put this all together for a jam! (And fit it on a Pico 8 cart!) The terrain, the map, the faces (!!), the dialogue, the collectibles, the billowing sails of the rafts, the waves washing over the shores. SO many lovely details.
The Complete and Deluxe editions of Explorers just came out!
Apart from a great many fixes, there are some new landmarks laying about, new dialogue lines, birds, a new title-screen, many smaller tweaks, and most importantly AUDIO, with several procedural systems for the waves crashing sounds, explorer voices, and bird cries!
Please do check out the Deluxe edition, which comes with cool wallpapers and an exclusive desktop pet!
I changed the cart on the original post to the new version. So "for old times' sake" here is the jam version from alakajam:
Thank you for playing!
Much love,

That was fantastic. I loved it. The graphics were so luscious and detailed. I also loved the running animation. It made me get up and run through my apartment swinging my arms in a full circle LOL. I was impressed with the auto-avoidance of various boundaries and the graphics looked very organic rather than your usual angled or orthogonal appearance of so many game maps and nearly everything was animated. And the conversations with the fellow explorers were funny and unpredictable.
I found myself hoping there would be some kind of surprise with the statue heads.
Dude, what a freaking charming little game.
The procedural pirate system is amazing! Super impressive. All the sounds and details are so nice and polished. Had a great time, super relaxing and very inspiring. :)
