On a distant planet, a woman has found herself separated from her crew. Their fate unknown, she seeks a way back to the spacecraft that brought them here, but there's a strange obelisk here, and hoards of viscous creatures...
Fight huge crowds of monsters to push a path forward in this retro-style arcade shooter!
Here's my entry for RNDGame Jam 2020! I'm happy with how this turned out -- it's pretty much the first game I've ever really "finished" in any capacity. Maybe I'll do more with it, but for now I hope you enjoy it!
I played this today by chance, and it is quite fun - thank you! Took me a bit to understand the upgrades, but after that all clicked fairly well - and the controls work great.
A question: is there a real ending to the game, or is it more of an infinite-horde-shooter? :)
Thanks!
Very fun! It took me a while to figure out the energy meter, but once I did it was really fun strategizing my way through each round. The importance of the energy refills made me take risks and rush into hordes of monsters, and the different speeds they moved at allowed me to (try to) navigate around them and prioritize the quickest threats.
This looks great, too! Right from the title screen, the animations are all really nice. I especially like the monsters. And the sounds really helped communicate what was going on.
Unless I'm imagining things, I think I may have run into a glitch a few times where the first energy refill I picked up when my meter was empty didn't do anything?
The story is great too! I would gladly have played through more, but it also feels complete as it is.
Thanks, @pjft and @Kittycat! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm particularly glad that you both expressed the game "clicking" once you got some of the mechanics figured out -- I was hoping to make that effect with the minimalist instructions!
There are a few bugs in it, I'm sure. I think I noticed the energy one in particular myself after release.
Once again, thanks for playing! =]
(Also, yes, it is basically an infinite horde shooter. There's an "ending", but it's just my author's note after the after-death cutscenes run out)
@smie I played it again today and it's still super satisfying. I have to say my power bar goes beyond the screen and my gun is also over 20 I believe. I'm past 2000m, I want to keep going to see if I get the game to end or crash :p
Well done!
