I don't know about anyone else, but I can never resist a proper Christmas game. So what better time to make a Christmas-themed pico-8 game?

In Last Christmas, you play Santa, desperately attempting to deliver presents during an apocalyptic meteor strike. Can you save Christmas and deliver presents to boys and girls before their homes are destroyed, or will you leave their final moments on Earth marred by disappointment, believing - as they face incineration - that they just didn't make the Nice List this year?

It's up to you. Don't let them down.

Apocalyptic meteor strike on Christmas Eve ? Well allrightee then !

I remember making a type of Christmas Delivery game myself back in QBasic. It worked on a tight grid, had reindeer to fly the sleigh, and you had to avoid hitting the satellites that riddled the sky as well as picture perfect drop down the correct presents for the correct house.

You also had a bonus if you could a big giant snowflake on top of Frosty and send him into the next world.

All in all a pretty strange game. But this one ? Hmm ...

I think we each deserve a slice of that kind of cake. :)

Ah, QBasic! Being an Amiga owner, Amos and Blitz Basic weren't weapons of choice back in those days...

But I agree, anyone who makes a Christmas present delivery game deserves a slice of cake.

Also, thanks for the reply! Appreciated.

Sure. Let me put a STAR on top of that.

And yes, I had Commodore Amiga years ago myself. Programmed in an odd language called F-Basic. Odd in the fact it was immensely powerful except you could only have 20-graphic objects in it.

Those objects could be any size but you couldn't slice from them.

Those were the limitations. Very odd indeed.

Happy hekkin' Christmas to those who were saved by a rising present hitting a meteor. I enjoy this game quite a bit, and also I am impressed by the different building designs, and a star is the least I can do, as debris from one could be falling, too!

Thanks, Thom! Happy hekkin' Christmas to you, too! :)

Very well done! Side note: I also can't resist a proper Christmas game, as evidenced by a very similar game I made last year (for a two-button game jam):

Your game, with having to avoid a deadly meteor shower, is much more intense :)

My only complaint is that I found the angle at which presents are thrown to be frustratingly high. It makes the game more challenging since I have to plan farther ahead when throwing, but I would have preferred to derive challenge from just having everything scroll much faster. But I have a preference for hectic arcade games, so don't read too much into my opinion :)

Hey @projectSAM. I went onto ArcadePreHAcks and I saw that your game has been uploaded with out your permission. Much love, Rimuru.

Thanks, @deraj! I enjoyed your game too, thanks - the coal element was a nice touch :)

Thanks for the feedback, as well! Faster scrolling would have been really easy to implement... maybe for Last Christmas 2: This Time It's Final.

Thanks for the heads-up @Rimuru. Not sure what to make of that site - all a bit weird but probably not worth getting the lawyers involved ;)
