Excellent concept, and I'd say quite well executed. It's definitely cool to see some more somber, darker games on here.
The screen wrapping to advance the story was pretty cool thematically, and while I wish the transition was a little smoother (so you didn't see people teleporting to random places) I know that might not be practical with Pico-8. Perhaps there could be a fade-out/fade-in effect of some sort?
