You have entered the temple of an ancient civilisation, and you must decode their hieroglyphics in order to uncover their secrets.

Thanks to previous research, you know that they have a 4 letter alphabet, and they modify the glyphs based on their period in time.

Controls:

(Press) Arrow keys - Enter glyph

(Hold) Z and X - Modifiers

You have discovered the secret language of the people.
Mistakes: 70
Total Time: 14m 59s

Phew ! Now that's what I call a brainweave !
Well done, Springogeek !

Once you win the game, however, you might be given a password so you can play again, but this set with a TIMER. Perhaps given only 5-minutes per set, each new set subtracts 5 seconds.

If you run out of time on that level, you are penalized by going back 2-levels to redo the last two, then get a shot at the other one again, same number of minutes and seconds as last time.

A few sound effects could be in order. Simple tone for (A) and (B) =AND= you could create 4-more symbols for holding BOTH (A) and (B) (which I did a few times getting confused wondering if you did this).

Perhaps have the torches appear BLUE individually as you have but then have them turn GOLD and a WHOOSH sound as well as new sparks (particles) appear when you get the set right.

Yeah, I didn't have enough time over the weekend to attempt sounds, or even nicer graphics.

I was considering adding a double-shifted set, and my code allows for it, but I didn't get time to create images and levels for them.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I honestly wasn't sure if anyone would find it fun.

I'm always enjoying puzzles and RPGs. Any game with relaxed play I will usually take the time to explore to conclusion.

Well thanks again for trying it.
I'm hoping to update it with music in the near future, once I wrap my head around the music tracker.

The music tracker is a little tricky. I finally found that you not only click the square [] below the pattern to open that track, but that by default it expects you to have entered sound information in TRACK ONE, NOT track ZERO which is where your default sound is.

Pretty sure this is an oversight.

RIGHT CLICK the 01 when it appears and it will change to 00. Then it will show the audio from track 00 that you entered.

Click the remaining [] to open them and you will see they are set for 02, 03, and 04. Change them to where you make your sound patterns. Hit SPACEBAR to listen to your work.
