This table can store more than one solution per room, and will show them listed in order of efficiency. At the moment it's just Gray's solutions (thank's Gray!), so there is one per room.

It would be nice to have a collection for each room (no matter how crazy they are) so, please send in your solutions. Go on, don't be shy! You can attach your player file and email to [email protected]

The player files are called player1.txt .. player5.txt, and you can find them in:

Windows: The same folder as the game (e.g. c:\Program Files\Chocolate Castle)

Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Chocolate Castle

In the future I'll add some more stuff to the table:

• thumbnails of the solutions
• highlight the rooms you have the best score for
• stats

Why can't I find those files? All I have are like "notebook sheets of paper" that say "player1, ..., player5" and under the name, in gray, it says "Text Document", the size of the "files" or whatever they are. If I open any of these, I will find lines and lines of abbr. that I have no idea what they mean. I know they are the solutions, or the movements I've made, but there's nothing I can do with them. If I highlight some of the lines to copy them, I have no idea where they go. Of course, if I move to a blank space in the same "sheet of paper" from where I copied the lines, I'm able to paste them, but just as they were copied; i.e., I'm not doing anything, besides driving myself nuts!

cptg - those are the right ones! If you'd like to add your solutions to the collection, just send me an email ( [email protected] ), and either attach player1.txt, or paste the contents of it into the email.

Usually there's no need to actually read the abbreviated solution 'code'. The player files (player1.txt etc.) are used to automatically store your best solutions. Each one of those lines is a solution you have created by completing a room. When you open a room in Chocolate Castle, it grabs the corresponding solution from player1.txt so that you can step through it using REDO or Enter.

You have to use square brackets instead of round ones.

I've added all of Weedhopper's solutions (hope you don't mind WH!) and a few others now. Eventually I'll make it easier to submit solutions, but for now, feel free to post them here or email the files to me and I'll update the database from time to time.

I would like to send you my solutions, but please, could you tell me step by step how to do it? If I open the files that you mentioned above, I have a lot lines per player. I don't know if there are stored all the tries I've done until I found a solution, plus all the others to get to the optimal solution, i.e., the ones posted here with the least number of moves.
Notice that you said "(no matter how crazy they are)", so... I'll send them at your own risk! ;-)

The player file only stores the best solution you've come up with for each puzzle (therefore, there are 120 lines per player file, with blank lines for unsolved puzzles). To send them to me:

1. Create an email to [email protected]
2. Go to the File menu and select 'Attach File', or something similar.
3. Locate player1.txt (or player2.txt if you've been using player 2 etc.)
4. File->Send

Step 2 might be different depending on which email program you're using. If you have trouble attaching the file to the email, you can just copy and paste the entire contents of the file into the email instead. So:

2. Double click player1.txt to open it.
3. Edit->Select All
4. Edit->Copy
5. Go back to the email and Edit->Paste

The square brackets are a little to the left and between the backspace and the enter buttons.

To paste something hidden, surround it with the hidden tag like this:
[ hidden ] Spoiler text [ /hidden ]
but DON'T put spaces between the brackets and the word "hidden" inside.

I had a hard time finding the square brackets myself. For some reason you overlook them.

That really is a nice solution to H1 cptg -- Move 8 made me laugh, simultaneously connecting the top and bottom pieces with such a large, awkward shape. I didn't see that coming.

Hmnn.. this BBS still isn't very user-friendly. I'll try and figure out how to put some buttons to generate things like hidden tags under the 'Enter your comment' box.

Hi, Brendansoma: I thought your name was Brenda and the rest (nsoma) was part of your last name. I insist: you are a cutie! I said that your explanations was priceless because I think I'm more familiar with the keyboard than with my house. My question was not about the location of the [] . And then you even wrote that probably I overlooked them (so I couldn't feel so bad!). I never thought someone could need directions for finding keys, but this is just me, as I told you, I use the keyboard so much, that sometimes I forget that there's plenty of us who have no need to know this kind of things. Probably you're a young grandmother but if this is not the case (not too young), congratulations! You're right, I'm living in Holland. And as we say here: when you hit the big 5-0 you've seen Sara (for men Abraham). As for me I've never understood the big secrecy of age.
No matter how hard you try to ignore/deny it, you're still that age. So what's the point?
With a lot of help I have solved all the rooms. I go back from time to time to try and get a better score, and once in a blue moon I succeed. That's why I always check this forum to see the results of people more determined and succesfull than me.

I just added a couple of features to the score table: @

1. You can now click 'Submit a Solution' and paste one or more solutions in the "[ code ] Chocolate Castle Recording blah blah ... [ /code ]" format. Don't forget to write your name before submitting.

2. If you want to view how your scores compare with the highest scores, click 'View Player Scores' and type in your name. If your score matches the best know solution, the room is shown in blue.

I also added a new set of solutions by cptg. Well, they were new when she sent them to me (sorry for taking so long!).

Gray: yes, a preview feature for the BBS would be good, but I couldn't figure out how to do it yet. For now the only way to do it is to use the 'Edit' link after posting (top right of message), so anyone can see your half-finishes post if they view it before you're finished (:

It's been so long since I played CC, that I forgot all the "cutie things" you can do, e.g., send my solutions; find a solution; etc. I just entered the BBS for room 38- easy and found my own solution. I'm stuck there, but I can't read my own solution.

I high-lighted it, then press "ctrl+c" but now I have no idea what to do with it. There's a "clipboard", but honestly, I don't remember where it is, how to access it, enythin! It's like if I were playing CC for the first time.
