I really admire the quality control endorsed by the lexaloffle company. Its my inspiration! I recommend checking out the free games (Alien Artifact is great!) and jaspers journeys, swarm racer 3000 and cat cat watermelon. Just incase your brain was exploding with all the voxel madness then 2d Pixels are like a nice cosy book by the fire. Glad lexaloffle is finally getting the recognition it deserves! Three cheers for ZEP !
HIP HIP HOORAY!
(this is not a level, im just not sure how to take a screenshot from within voxtron yet)
I was playing Swarm Racer again just the other day. I think it's great, as a casual racer. Haven't tried any of the others yet, unfortunately.
Chocolate Castle and Zen Puzzle Garden are two of the finest, most brain-busting puzzle games ever created.
For those who want linux versions this thread is of interest:
....or just recheck the bundle: Chocolate, Zen and Jasper have just been added.
Tried Jasper but I can't even get close to making some of the jumps. Is there a video tutorial (say for the first level) that shows how one can reach everything?
If one has to make absolutely perfect jumps, I doubt if I'll try it again since I'm not interested in spending the kind of time it would take to become that proficient.
hold down jump to do a higher jump or just tap to do a smaller jump... there are walkthroughs and everything in the jaspers section up top right of the BBS or here https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?cat=5
There are bugs with the key assignment option: I remapped the jump/fire keys to SPACE/CTRL -- this is wired into my brain at this point. However this really messes things up. Hitting ESC to bring up the menu no longer worked -- the menu just flashed and I was taken to the beginning of the level! This also messes up the shop. SPACE seems to be the "buy" key. This is why, when I bought a "save game", it did not give me the save menu and just took me back to the beginning of the level. There needs to be a key assignment for "select/OK".
I went back and tried level 1 again. I finally got the key on the far right, found the undergound rooms, figured out to shoot the rocks and got what is apparently a high-jump crystal. With that I was able to get, I think, everything on the level. I finally made it through.
Reminiscent of the 90's (Commander Keen, etc.) if one misses a jump it's back to the beginning and start over... again... and again... and again... When I want to play a game, I want to relax and be entertained. I do not want to be forced to train my reflexes to make perfect jumps 99% of the time, and/or spend a lot of time repeating the same thing over and over.
In easy mode there needs to be a quick save/restore. If someone wants a challenge, they don't have to use it or they can play in normal/hard mode. I really, really hate having to go all the way around just to try a jump again. I want to relax and have fun.
Aside for the key assignment bug, it's a very decent platform game. I just don't have the patience for these anymore.
I got the indie bundle just for Vox and loved the other offerings recently put in my bundle as well. And Cat Cat watermelon hooked me with the absolute fun absurd concept of making towers out of random objects :D
DR4IG, I totally know what you mean. There's something strangely serene and meditative about stacking cats.
