Wrap up a bunch of toy mice for the kiddos in this solitaire-inspired present wrapping puzzler.

Bonus points are awarded for efficiently combining pieces to make wrapped gifts. Most deals should be solvable, but once in a while the RNG gives you a bad one. I didn't write a solver to avoid those, so good luck is needed to get a long streak going!

Almost look too easy until I saw the denial message.
Good puzzle game nonetheless.

The trick to this game is:

  • Finish one box
  • Put it on the bottom
  • Put the rest of the bows on top of it
  • Finish the rest of the boxes
  • Put the bows on all the boxes.
If you put on the rest of the bows too soon, you'll block yourself.

However, even after that, I still got stuck on level 3 with an impossible setup. With only 1 spare square of wiggle room, I couldn't dig down past the bears that were on top. A great concept for a game, but it would be even greater if it could check to make sure levels are beatable.

For instance, how to you beat this level?

And that was my first level on this playthrough.

It was fun to play for the discovery, looks good, and there is some strategy to finish a level quicker, but there isn't really a way to mess up things except for the trivial error to wrap up gifts before the end. Otherwise, every move is either reversible or leading to more room. This means that you will finish every level that is solvable until you reach one that isn't and get stuck, and skill and strategy has no influence over that. To counter that problem, you could give a fixed number of solvable levels and give a high score at the end.
If you don't want to write a solver, you can use srand and playtest the resulting level, write down the seeds of levels you solved and found interesting, and in your code use rnd to choose the seeds of the levels the player will play.
