Pet the cat

Pico8's most accurate cat petting simulator just got a huge update. Version 2.1 includes, but is not limited to, Purring, better performance and variation in personality types.
It now runs at a smooth 60 fps, which wasn't possible in earlier versions, due to performance issues.

Get settled with a kittie that is all yours to enjoy.

features:

  • A wide variety of cute kitties
  • Very acccurate cat behaviour modelled after real life cats
  • A disembodied hand for you to pet the kittie
  • Real cat feel
  • Nice looking background wallpaper
  • Ultra realistic cat sounds (now includes purring)
  • Lots of scritches
  • Allergen free
  • Even though it may want to, it cannot scratch or bite you (though it may hiss)
  • Unlike its real life counterpart, this kittie cannot escape you.
  • Did I mention the realistic cat behaviour?
  • Spicy kittie behaviour when annoyed
  • real purring
  • Hissing can be turned off in the menu

Some hints on getting to enjoy a nice purr:
Like real cats, petting against the grain is not recommended.

  • rewritten the cat rendering code, so it can run smoothly at 60 fps.
  • added purring
  • added hissing (can be turned off in menu)
  • cats now come with slightly different personalities
  • I expect there to be some new bugs too
  • there are two special (and rare) personality types

Depending on feedback I might make hissing opt in rather than opt out in the future.

@KINGSGUARDGAMES I did consider adding purring at some point, but at the time I failed to create a pleasant sounding purr and kind of gave up on it.
I gave it another try yesterday after reading your comment and finally landed on a result I am happy with.
I will probably release the updated cart somewhere this week or next week.
All it needs now is some balance checks. I want people to have to put in some effort, but obviously not make it overly hard (at least not for most kitties, they aren't all the same after all).
