Having seen @loanwulf's offering here:
https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=48345
I decided to go ahead and show off an unfinished cart I was working on HERE back in March of 2022:
Press 🅾️ to show Spock's communication card.
There is code, graphics, music, and sound effects in this cart. Feel free to examine them all.
For graphics there is the Enterprise, Doomsday Machine, Planets, Starbase, "Star Trek" text, and 32x32 portraits of Kirk, Doctor McCoy, Spock, Lieutenant Uhura, Scotty, And Admiral Hanson.
For audio there is the Star Trek theme I started, Phasers in different pitches to show if they are the handheld variety or coming directly from the Enterprise, Transporter thrum, Computer sounds and pitches, Warp Speed, "Panic" theme, "Lost game" theme, and a few other bits for communication.
If there is something you want to make with these, please let me know. Would love to see this game completed.
Thanks !
Thank you, @loanwulf. Since no-one has truly clamored to hit this, once I finish my current card game cart, write another book chapter, I'll make this my next project to finish.
Unless someone wants to beat me to it. :)
If interested this is basically going to be the "transporter" missions that you can get for the Gameboy and Nintendo "Star Trek The Next Generation."
I don't much care for anything else when I played this game but the transporter missions, finding the right person, using the map and radar to locate them, I rather enjoyed the complexity and challenge of that.
So this game would be all about that alongside the Doomsday Machine stalking the Earth. It would be up to you to rescue the important scientists from each planet - and fight the Doomsday along the way.
I was going to make an elaborate story with it additionally - also included in the game - with the demise of the Doomsday Machine from the combined science and technology of the scientists if you manage to rescue all of them.
. . .
I actually could use a good musician for this cart. It was hell to write the small amount that I did.
I think I'll take you up on that.
What's the prize for winning? :)
I never played the game, but I found a video and
I believe I could do it.
Also, I can't write music at all.
The prize would simply be credit, @loanwulf. You could post the finished product with your titles and both guests and known Piconians could compare the start I did here to the finish you did there and laud and applaud your programming, excellence, design, and craftsmanship.
Then again it could be like an earlier challenge I had called Applecart where I would take an old Apple ][ games from 40+ years ago and challenge others to write their version for Pico-8, we actually got quite far into this:
