The 1st song you have here is proof that Pico-8 is quite capable of excellent and chilling music given the chance with a talented musician such as yourself.

@dw817 Thanks! The first track did end up being kind of chilling, and might sound better in a horror game, which this is not. But I think it does add a certain ominousness to the mysterious alien artifacts you find in this game.
Hopefully I'll be able to post the whole thing soon. The game itself is pretty much complete. I just need to finish writing the lore. Thanks for the encouragement.
Not to pull you away from your original, you might like the soundtrack to Halloween 3, the opening scene. It's very simple once it's going but also very creepy with the NTSC orange lines pinging.
