Help POF shoot all nightmares away! Can you do it fast?

Rules

This is a casual speed duel game. Help POF kill all the monster nightmares as fast as possible and without losing all your lives. Every nightmare has its own behavior, so find the best strategy to defeat each one of them quickly. As you advance, you can buy new weapons and upgrade your stats, choose wisely to improve your times.

This is my first Pico 8 game, let me know what you think,

This game is so good! The real-time gameplay is really solid and I had a lot of fun choosing my upgrades between enemies, particularly deciding whether the gun upgrade or the health upgrade was better for boss 4. The decision space is so rich. I love the visual design too. 10/10

Great game in a tiny package. Very interesting movement on some of these enemies. Love the visuals and the music is good, too.

I really like this, the character designs are wonderful, Pof is such a dude. The graphics are really stylish too, gives the game a unique look. I didn't get very far into the game but it's fun trying out different strategies each time to find something that works.

It's a minor nit-pick but I wish there were confirmation buttons on the upgrade screen between levels, there were several times where I went to the next level prematurely or selected an upgrade I didn't want, also maybe if the next enemy was displayed before a fight to help before you've memorised the order of the enemies.

The game feels very familiar, I can't put my finger on a specific game it's similar to, but it feels like an old arcade shooter from the 80s. Cool game! :)
