This is amazing! I have a real soft spot for Better Off Alone covers, and I can't imagine a better Pico-8 rendition of it. The percussion, as usual, is superb - it's so hard to get a really good kick in Pico-8.

I can't resist sharing a couple of my other favorite covers:

Purity Ring - Better Off Alone (synth pop)
Crapface - Alone (bubblegum bass)
Analogue Dear - Better Off Alone in B Major (piano with electronics)

... and, now that I think of it, if you ever were to cover Olive's You're Not Alone, I'd be fascinated to hear it.

@luchak Thx so much!! Also omg, the Purity Ring cover is dope af, I love it! I think You're Not Alone miiiight be doable but I'm not sure? Just made a note to remember it next time I'm looking for a song to cover!

@ridgek How to make this music

@NazarFloppaLovesP8 I'm very sorry, but there's unfortunately no short answer to that question. I'd suggest looking up tutorials on making chiptunes w limited trackers like LSDJ, then apply the knowledge gained to Pico-8. Also maybe look into how FM synthesis and wavetable synthesizers work, bc that knowledge can also be applied to Pico-8. If u have a more specific question, I'd be happy to try to answer it!

as a survivor of the 80's club scene, this makes me sooo happy. The sounds the graphics everything is perfect. The tones made me think of the 70-80s band Telex from Belgium.

@MadeInNL thx! fyi, a few are my own, but most of the images used for the music carts are collages of stock photos, screencaps from old tv shows, ai generated, etc so don't credit me for those lol. also thx for the telex link, i wasn't familiar w them!
