A mod of Celeste Classic. The aim was to make all of the levels harder but make them feel distinct, similar to Super Meat Boy's "Dark World" (hence the name) and Celeste's "B-Sides". I made this back in 2019, but just recently made a few adjustments to it.
I am not a coder, so it's pretty bare bones in that department, and the code is almost identical to the original. The rest of the code I borrowed from other Celeste Classic mods. The major differences being the ability to toggle screen shake and strawberries not being collected if the player dies.
Controls:
Z/C - Jump
X/V - Dash
Arrow Keys - Move and dash direction
E - Toggle screen shake
Much harder then the original, but still surprisingly fun! Gemskip took me an hour.
in my opinion this more of the same, that same add spikes mod to celeste, like seriously can we stop the celeste mods cause most of them are more or less the same recolors with diferent locations and amount spikes why can't we have mods like celeste x or procedural celeste with are the actual fun mods cause they add something instead of just respriting,(even i can do that)
before you say "people worked hard on thi",this time i can say i'm pretty sure you didn't you were just following what people are doing which results in a boring game that adds nothing to the original games apart from spikes
@prismo18 firstly, i made this in 2019, it's actually old. i just wanted to show it off recently. second, i didn't just "add spikes", i re-did the levels, making them actually play differently. i mimicked something that was literally done in 2010 (super meat boy), no one complained that they just added more saws, because the design of the levels also changed. there are a few mods that do just add spikes but this one is not like that. if you have an issue with people making maps of a game they like, it seems ridiculous to complain about it
@Scrubz wow, gg on getting gemskip that quick! i've already forgotten the strats used to get it lol
hi crep, i really disagree with prismo. i really love this mod. its really fun and not too hard and not too easy. you did a great job. :) Also how do you skip the gem. i cant figure it out.
This mod is pretty fun,I love the background when you get the second gem :)
@Rav81blaziken thanks, i appreciate it :) to skip the gem, on the 2 floating spike blocks, you have to dash up on and land on the left corners of both of them. the 2nd dash in particular i found to be very precise, but it is doable
@AstralDev and thank you as well, glad you enjoyed it
I love this mod, really feels like a Dark World.
@prismo18 you clearly didn't even started the thing, please go hate somewhere else.
@KikooDX yo thanks, i remember you from your super meat boy ILs
@CreepinAtMyDoor I remember you too, you are insanely good at SMB
@prismo18 Seriously? Start the original game and this one aside, and compare the level design. You will see than they was way more thought put into this than "add two spikes, change the colors and call it a day". It is unfair and stupid to compare map mods with code mods like Celeste X and PGleste. The description says what this is, and if you don't want to play this kind of thing then don't do it, and move away.
@prismo18 ok this is the last time i'm responding lol. i can get constructive criticism, i'm all for it. but you aren't criticizing the level design or anything, all you're doing is saying it isn't original or a new concept. clearly it's not, as i mentioned before, it was done in 2010. if i knew how to code, i wouldn't have added much to this because it would defeat the point of what my goal was: to make dark levels for celeste. i made this back in 2019 when i wanted to make a better version of "celeste but more harder". this, at the time, was really the only mod that just "added more spikes". most of the mods i'm sure you've played didn't even exist when i made this one. if you don't like mods that don't significantly alter the code, that is fine. leave it at that
first off, why can't we have more people like you secondly,my whole point was more of a rant of the genre than on you like a said on the footnote but taking in consideration what you said i think it would have been more productive to make a post ranting about this genre of mods
@prismo18 you do know people make these mods in there free time? they but hard work in these mods, so dont just come here to say haw lazy and bad it is, even tho it really is a great mod. i know you can think diffrent. but then you can atleats give a good comment instead of saying. this mod is lazy and unorginal, the levels are diffrent but then just have the same feel as vanilla. so pls go hate somewhere else.
@prismo18 You haven't even released any games on the BBS, or even made any posts on your profile before, so how can you know that this isn't painstakingly hard? Mods don't take an hour. Only trash ones do. And I can most certainly tell you, this is not trash. It is good. It modifies the game in a good way. It looks good. It feels good. It plays good. It is good. And I understand, you may not enjoy it that much, which is totally fine, but what is not fine is assuming that this sort of thing is easy. Even a simple reskin of the spritesheet would take a while due the sheer amount of sprites games like Celeste use. So take your hate, push it back through your thick skull, and at least try to make a mod on your own. You'll see the difficulty, trust me. It takes time, and in this world, where conciousness is a magic trick that can only be held up for so long, time is important as hell.
Does anyone know what procedurelest is? I read what @prismo18 said and there's a mod called procedurelest but I can't find it. I found Celeste X, so I'm just confused as to what mod procedurelest is.
@CatastrophicCal It's called "Procgen"

@NOOBSKINSPAMMER Thanks, I played that but I guess I didn't realize because of the name. Thanks for telling me
did try out the gemskip, did it by accident on the second try,but i don't know how to get past the next level
I love the level design and difficulty level!
Not impossible, but challenging!
I'd recommend making Madeline have a bit of a shadow over her, maybe a bit darker. Not to make her match, but just because her bright colors don't make sense in the lighting situation.
@CreepinAtMyDoor This is a REALLY fun mod. Are you ever going to add this to itch.io>
OH MY FLUFF WE ACTUALLY DID IT!
i spent like 50 mins on 2600 alone.
