Starting a little froggy platformer in isolation. I have built a little level and a jumpy from so far using the 'Nerdy Teachers' platform tutorial.
So far you can only walk about and jump using the direction keys. Also you can't die yet, you just fall off the map lol.
Things I would like to learn and get running next include...
- building a main-menu
spawn animation/ wakeup fade in style
death and responding
wall jumps and double jumps would be real cool
enemy sprites
*z and x button functions
X = dash
Z = lick/parry
⬅️ = dir
➡️ = dir
⬆️ = jump + dbl jump
⬇️ = slam and stoop
lighting, caves
climbing holds/climbing animation
more awesome idle animation
secret caves
items (potions/juice/shrooms + animate eat)
music
walk behind sprites map objects flags?
doorways w flickering lights
animate background clouds, swaying trees
checkpoints
levels/ map extension
camera
Loads to do. Any pointers suggestions SO welcome.

The animation is adorable :D Also the tiles are super stylish! Seems like you have the start of a really cool game here.
I'm wondering how the control scheme, with up=jump, is going to play after you get the other functionalities in. Anyway, happy P8ing for you too:)
Thanks so much! @~firefly~ and @noppa -yes I've had a play on a gamepad now and I'm rethinking the ⬆️ for jump decision as it makes controlling the jump a tad awkward. Anyhow I'm super addicted to Pico8ing now. It's great!!
