I already owned Pico8

I heard Pico8 was coming out as a freebie for people who bought the PocketCHIP expansion

But I don't have PocketCHIP. I just have a regular CHIP. So I assumed I would not be getting it for free.

But I did think I would be getting it through my account page cause I already own Pico8.

Low and behold there does not seem to be a version for the CHIP and also, the Linux versions that are available do not seem to work on the CHIP.

What's the deal? Can I run Pico8 on my CHIP?

Did you try the Raspberry Pi build? I haven't tried it with my CHIP yet but both RPi and CHIP use ARM processors, while the Linux builds are x86. (I don't know if PocketCHIP got anything special in their build.)

i heard the pocket chip build is 0.1.7 (we are currently on 0.1.6). the chip version should drop when everyone else gets 0.1.7.

Yes I tried the Raspberry PI version but it didn't work either.

0.1.7 you say? OK. I hope we get that soon.

you can make the _dyn rPi version to work on the CHIP, but there are some performances issues, probably because of SDL

The thing that pushed me over the edge on getting a pocket chip was pico-8, which I already know and love on the desktop. It would be nice if there was some legit way to run it on the regular chip as well - I was going to try copying it off of my pocket chip, but would prefer a sanctioned way to do it - even though I bought it on the PC, it still feels a bit hackish (and not in the good sense) to copy it from pocket chip to chip. Would love to see it folded in with the desktop license. Would be ok with throwing in some more cash to add it.

I think I remember NTC telling that Pico-8 will land on normal CHIP OS version, wait a little bit for the non kickstarter release of CHIP, it may come at that time

I also have a regular CHIP and was under the impression that PICO-8 would run on it. Is this going to happen? Kickstarter release is over and we're on 0.1.8 now. After waiting 6 months to get my CHIP, I'm not in a hurry to order a PocketCHIP just for PICO-8.

Try "sudo apt-get install chip-pico-8"
