EDIT: A few people expressed that they could use some more time for the jam. So I extended the dates on itch to through the 18th; that should still allow a nice 13 Days of Halloween to play entries, right?

Spooky September Jam!
It's time for the annual Halloween jam! This time a bit early -- the idea is that if we make spooky (or spoopy) games from now until September... we'll get to actually play them in October! :D
If you remember URL the 3 Color Jam from a couple years ago, this is going to be a 'sequel' to that -- the limitation this time is 4 colors -- whoooooo!!

I might see if I can enter the same game for this jam and GBJAM 7...is Egypt for the NES a spooky enough game? 😛
For sure -- that's more just a suggestion than a hard rule. The 4 color thing is the bigger one.

Gonna enter something in this (I hope!) 4 color restriction is very neat :)
I think I still have an unfinished game for the 3CG jam sitting around. Is it alright if I finish that up and submit it? (Potentially with an additional color)
If you come up dry, remember that I made a Haunted House game in Pico-8 sometime back and you guys are welcome to add it to your spooky list.

I've been pretty busy lately but since I have until October to finish, I could probably throw something decent together. I can't wait to try using the modified palette trick. I'm looking forward to seeing more carts that use it.
oh boy! this is my first pico-8 project and the first time I've actually participated in an official jam. I just breathed like 10 sighs of relief that I don't have to scramble to finish in the next 30 minutes.
