This is a work-in-progress flight simulator I've been working on.
The flight model is simplified - it's not a full rigid body model - but still implements basic forces of lift, drag.
Also I've yet to implement landing, crashing, flaps, stalling or any consequence for exceeding the maximum airspeed. At this stage I just want to try and get regular flight working plausibly.
I've never flown a plane, and only dabbled in flight sims, so I would really appreciate some feedback from anyone with more experience than me, so I can try to tweak the flight model parameters to be a bit more realistic.
The plane is based on the Cessna 172.
Controls
- Arrows - ailerons
- Player 2 up/down (E,S) - throttle
- Player 2 left/right (S,F) - rudder
- Hold X and tap up/down to adjust the trim
You can also control it with a single controller by holding down circle to switch from ailerons to throttle and rudder.
Instruments

From left to right the instruments are:
- Airspeed in knots
- Altitude in feet
- Vertical speed in feet per minute
And the throttle setting is displayed on the right.
Taking off
To take off:
- Set the throttle to full
- Wait until the plane speed reaches 55 knots
- Pull back slightly (down arrow) to raise the nose
