Hiya! I've been working on this little puzzle game for a few months and its finally done!

Thanks to @Trog for the lovely font, and everyone who playtested and/or gave feedback.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy! 🐛

Such a nice game, I played it for so long. The only levels I couldn't make where the tombstone and the last two ones.
The amount of polish is crazy. I love when you wiggle youself out the hand grabs you and gets you back. I really need to know how to finish those levels.
Great job :)

This is such a cute, clever little game! Very cozy :) I love the hand and all the little polish-y things. Great game! And, maybe most importantly, such a smart gameplay idea.

Font! ^_^ I’m glad it came in handy. Such an excellent little game - I’m stuck on level 15 but hopefully it will come to me, heh.

Just perfect for PICO-8. I love how the second puzzle, being a bit of a stumper, tells you there's something simple you're missing just by dint of being only the second puzzle. There's a design lesson in there. Thank you for this!

This is amazing. Like others have already said, the gameplay is very clever! It reminds me of SnakeBird. The fourth level already had me stumped for the past days :,)
The visuals are really cool, too - the disembodies hand and the earthy color palette gives this such an old-school arcade game vibe! It's very lovely. I'll have to check out that font, too – it's very legible. Thank you for sharing this!

The graphics and animation polish first get attention, but the puzzle design is sheer brilliance too. Every puzzle on the bottom shelf, I thought through all the possibilities, and concluded there was no solution. I had proof and everything! Then I thought some more, often while away from my computer, and eventually through solutions to four out of the five on that shelf. Once I found it, each solution felt like it involved a wholly unique application of the puzzle mechanics. I feel smarter for having played this game, although not as smart as the puzzle designer.

"Dino" still has me stumped, but I'm sure a solution exists that really smart people can find.

Took me a while, but I finally did it! very clever puzzles.

Great idea for a game!
I can imagine a Picotron version with better physics where the cut pieces can lean to the right or left etc!

Waiting for the sequel "Bookworm"

Super nice one, congrats!

Very cool, I'm clearly too dumb and stuck on the cat tho lol.

1

Very challenging and fun!

2

game makes no sense, it's impossible

Just kidding, I really like this. It's great on mobile, whenever I have a minute I can try to fill out my shelves. I actually did complete duck, stuck on chair at the moment.

1

After several days of trial and error, I solved level 14!
How many days do I need for the remaining 3 levels...

WoRm 🐛
(great job)

3

Very interesting concept! Very challenging but the feeling you get after beating some of the harder levels is almost unmatched.

7

Phew, after some trials, errors, undos and wood eating, finally I could complete all challenges.

BTW the cake is not a lie!

Took about a week to figure out #12 (Hash), now I'm only stuck on the last two!

One possible addition (not that it needs any) would be a move counter (probably only on already-solved puzzles) so players could compete for solves using the fewest number of moves.

I cannot find the solution to the ladder or the dino unfortunately.
Also I found this on Instagram reels of all places?
The game is really entertaining and it is just the right type of puzzle game so that when you cannot get it, it is not frustrating, but still fun. It stays with the cute pixel theme and it is very satisfying to complete a level :) I made an account just to say that WE REALLY NEED A WALKTHROUGH ASAP...
On another note, this reminds me a lot of "Apple Worm" or "Party Animals" you can find them both on cool math games lol

@Jacinthesia : Two suggestions for approaching the ladder, hopefully without spoiling it entirely...

I found it helped to fill in cells on a spreadsheet to show the shapes I would need to cut out before any falling happened.

Previous puzzles have taught us one way to solve puzzles with voids in the middle. We need to "un-learn" that and think about this one differently.

Also, I just found what happens if you try and move all the way off the screen. Yet another adorable detail.

1

it would be SO lovely to have the background resemble a checkered paper in order to calculate the blocks and the falls but loving the game so far!!

1

Please, help, I'am stuck in Lvl 15.

2

I'm going to need help on the gravestone level. I've been staring at it for what feels like an hour. I got a vague hint from the pico-8 discord but I need something way more clear.

Edit: I've beaten the whole game now! Man, these solutions are clever.

1

Sooooo good! Fantastic game!!
Sadly it didn‘t work correct on any emulator, neither as .png nor as .p8 file!

1

Oh my god, this is such a brilliant little game. Please give us more! Do a sequel so we have another batch of levels! <3

1

I am having the same problem as Dauman when I move the cart to my miyoo mini
:(

1

I can't stop playing Woodworm! It's so easy to pick up and play, but the puzzles get surprisingly tricky later on. I love the satisfaction of completing a level and seeing the finished artwork. Buckshot Roulette

2

got cake! really awesome!!!

This is an excellent puzzle game! It's kind of funny, I was able to get crab pretty quickly, but I'm clearly missing something for gravestone and dino. Can anyone help me out?

1

Brilliant

@PicoCoder while my main piece of advice is simply keep trying, I will pass along the gentle hint I gave ooooggll for gravestone, which may not help much but I'd rather that than give too much away:

SPOILER:

You have to fall

I can't beat level 4 :(

Thank you so much @kozm0naut! I don't know what happened to my save data but I managed to finally get gravestone with that hint. I hope it helps other people who are struggling with that level as well.

nice game you are genius

Brilliant game and puzzle design

This is a brilliant game. Thank you for putting it together. Stuck on #9 for the moment, but I will persevere!
