Just sharing a short and fun little project I did in honor of the first race of the 2024 Formula One season; the Bahrain Grand Prix. I wanted to include more trivia about the track but ran out of time (the race starts in 8 hours!).
We'll see if I can keep up with the F1 calendar, but so far so good. Here's the track guide for this week's Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia. It was a bit of a challenge fitting this long thin track into 128 pixels!
I was able to round this one out and include a bit more info/trivia about the track that I didn't have time for last week and I'm fairly happy with the result. I'll likely go back and update Bahrain to match.
Round 3 - the Australian Grand Prix!
I keep looking forward to these - I am pretty new to pico-8 and so seeing these as an F1 fan give me great inspiration. Keep up the great work!

Round 4 - Japan! (one of my personal favorites!)
I'm experimenting with a different color scheme for the track layout this time. I wanted to try and improve contrast on the small screen of my Miyoo Mini +. Made a few other small tweaks to the template here and there. Enjoy!
Round 5 - China!
We're back in Shanghai for the first time since 2019! It also happens to be the 20th anniversary of the inaugural race in 2004!
Round 6 is upon us! In the words of the great philosopher Will Smith, "Welcome to Miami!"
Round 7 - The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
Well, the "Formula 1 MSC Cruises Gran Premio Del Made In Italy E Dell'Emilia-Romagna" if you're being technical, but how am I supposed to fit that in 128 pixels?!
Round 8 - Monaco!!!
This was one of the more challenging tracks to fit into this format so far, and with stats dating back over 70 years, the data entry was a lot more tedious than previous tracks. Phew, glad this one is finished! Looking forward to the race this weekend!
Round 9 - The Canadian Grand Prix!
Round 10 - The Spanish Grand Prix!
Coming in a little late with this one, but at least I got it done in time for qualifying. These next couple of weeks will be interesting to see if I can find enough time to keep up. Three back-to-back race weekends!
Round 11 - The Austrian Grand Prix!
Another one of my personal favorites (possibly second only to Interlagos).
I made some improvements in the code this week that won't really be noticeable to the end user but will make life a little easier for me going forward with regard to data entry. One minor noticeable improvement is that I'm now displaying gap years where no race was held. Previously, it might have just looked like a typo where I inadvertently missed a year or two. Going forward these will be noted explicitly so hopefully there won't be any ambiguity.
At some point I'll find the time to go back and apply all the improvements I've made back to the earlier track guides. Eventually I'd like to figure out how to get these all to fit in a single cart or figure out how multi-carts work.

Round 12 - The British Grand Prix!
We're halfway through the season already?! On the one hand, it feels like ages ago that I put out the first track guide, but on the other hand I can't believe I've already cranked through 12 of these. Feeling good about being able to get to the end of the season without missing one.
Round 13 - The Hungarian Grand Prix
Happy race weekend! Just a couple more before the summer break.
Round 14 - The Belgian Grand Prix!
I've been kinda dreading this track because I thought it was going to be really difficult to squeeze into this format given how much larger it is than every other circuit. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be really no trouble at all. Happy race weekend!
P.S. feel free to point out if I've gotten any corner names wrong. This was a tricky one in that regard as there seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there and I've only got so much space to squeeze a name into. I had to just use my best judgement on a few of them.

Round 16 - The Italian Grand Prix
Welcome back for our second visit to Italy this season!
Round 17 - The Azerbaijan Grand Prix
This was a surprisingly tricky one! I love this track, but it wasn't really on my radar in terms of being one that would be difficult to translate into this format. The complex of turns 8 thru 12 that wind up past the castle are...shall we say...lacking a bit of detail. :)
Round 18 - The Singapore Grand Prix
They tried to pull a fast one on me this week by adding an extra DRS deployment zone at the last minute. I couldn't find a single graphic online illustrating this new zone, so I've included it in my track guide as best I could based on written descriptions.
Does that make this track guide for Marina Bay Street Circuit the most up-to-date on the entire internet as of this publishing? That's the story I'm going with. 😋
Round 19 - The United States Grand Prix
Welcome back for the final stint of races this season!
Round 20 - The Mexico City Grand Prix
Once again, the FIA has tried to pull a fast one on me by making a last-minute adjustment to the circuit! The DRS zone on the main straight has been shortened by 75 meters given that it was a little too powerful last year. I did my best to reflect this, but 75m translates to only a few pixels and the difference might not even be noticed unless you're really looking for it.
Round 21 - The Sao Paulo Grand Prix
Interlagos is probably my all-time favorite track and one of the races I look forward to the most each season. Let's go!!
Round 22 - The Las Vegas Grand Prix
Pretty easy one this week! Kinda nice not having to transcribe 50+ years of race results for once. :)
Lol. Guess I got a little ahead of myself. I coulda sworn Vegas was this weekend. Nope, I was a week early. Oh well, better early than late! :)
Round 23 - The Qatar Grand Prix
Little late posting this one. I had this ready to go and then forgot to post it yesterday. Got thrown off by the holiday weekend here in the US, I guess.
