Hello again!
Josiah and The Singin' Woods is a relaxing rhythm game.
Press the correct button when it's in the center of the "strike zone" line on the left.
(note: the default for the red "O" buttons is "Z" on your keyboard)
Don't miss the flashing buttons or you'll lose a life!
The game gets a little harder if you're doing well, and goes easy on you if you miss a few notes. The stars in the top right show your current difficulty.
Show me your highest score!
I had much fun playing this! Lovely execution of the rhythm game genre:)
Really fun little game! Not unforgivably difficult, not incredibly hard. I don't know much about coding on pico-8, i usually just casually enjoy the games, but I can imagine how difficult it is to make a rhythm game in pico-8.
Edit: Best i can do is 12256.
@onkelarie Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@Meme_Meister Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing! The game tries to make it easier or harder depending on how you're doing, so I'm glad you felt like it was in the "sweet spot" most of the time.
And I guess since you're the only one to post it so far, you get the hi-score. =D
I got 12592 as a high score, missed 4 notes and got 62 awesome. Really fun game, though it can be slow at times. I had 3 stars a majority of the time and lost 1 heart.
Got 14360 with no misses and 10 "close" notes. My experience with Patapon and Theatrhytm helped :) Great game! I wonder if it's possible to add more levels and themes in separate cartridges, maybe with help of other pico-8 musicians?..
@Zverik @KnightOfDoom22 @Mot @XZI Thanks!
Thank you all for playing, and I'm glad you had fun!
I would love for others to take this game further. I could post the spreadsheet I used to make the stepcharts/animation cues, too, if anyone wants those.
I haven't seen a rhythem game in pico-8 so good job!
This is adorable, I love it so much!! I love that the button hits aren't just on random beats, they're nicely placed and syncopated so you end up tapping out a jaunty little rhythm on your keyboard. I felt like I was a percussionist playing along with the music :)
Nice tune and well executed idea! It was really fun and relaxing. The scrolling score and graphics felt really clear and readable to me. Great job!
I did 14888 on my first try! 131 awesome, 18 great, 2 close, 0 miss :)
Great game although I couldn't find out what the yellow house button is on my key board I still enjoyed playing! Edit: I didnt know that the yellow house was actually a arrow!
I'm recognizing that sprite from NES's "Adventures Of Tom Sawyer" or "Tom Sawyer No Bouken" it's original Japanese counterpart, @mac.
Nonetheless you have done a great job of building a most musical game around it - and clever to see how Tom gets around all of the hazards based upon correctly pushing the right buttons. Definite gold star work.
Dw817 Are you following me? Every game I comment on you always comment after me
I don't think so, @GeKStudios. I see a game I've never seen before. If I like it, I comment and gold star it. I think you'll see I've commented on other carts that you hadn't.
I especially like turn-based games or RPGs. I will always complement and comment on those.
Oh ok well I just think its a strange coincidence that you are commenting after me on multiple games.
@GeKStudios, you've made 5-comments in total since you've been here, three are here. One of which you commented after I did. 1-game outside of this does not qualify as multiple. You'll be alright. :)
