Quite lovely ! You might check with @Gruber and see if he doesn't have a nice tranquil piece of music for your relaxing snow scene.

Cat really adds to it. Maybe have him (her?) wakeup every time you hit an arrow or change the snow parameters. Then finally fall asleep again.

There was a Windows toy years ago called NEKO The Cat. Let me see if I can find that for you.

@dw817
Hey thanks :D I am happy to hear that you like it, I actually spend much more time on it than I planned to :D but yeah I also was thinking about letting the cat stretch out once in a while :) for now she blinks every 150th generated flake :D

I would really be happy to find music, I am totally not a talented musician :D

As most everyone from @enargy 's Advent Calendar team is using Gruber's music, he said it was available.

Quoting:

Here’s a Google Drive link to all of my Pico-8 carts with Xmas music. Some are short tidbits, others are full length arrangements. If you’re a developer, feel free to use them. Hopefully there’s something here you can use. If not, message me!

Here is the link:

Simply download any of the .P8's he has written, go to the song editor and play his music. If you find something you like the easiest way to do it would be to use Notepad or some other text file editor, copy out the [SFX] and [MUSIC] parts from his .P8 to your .P8 code. Then to play his music in your code type:

MUSIC(0)

Definitely give him credit that appears on your cart as he's quite the talented Pico-8 musician.

If you have trouble let me know and I'll try to step you through it.

yey nice !! Thanks for your effort looking this up! I will definitly add some music to it but I will need to check it out later.

About the video you mentioned in your post earlier, I remember the fish :D The 90s where such an adorable time, I still really love the art and game style of that century!

Have a good night I see you tomorrow when I add the sound :D

@dw817
sound is added :D I hope you like it. I added a sfx sample for the candle blow too. Looped it also serves as some weather mood sound :D

I think you chose a very lovely composition and the SFX are perfect, @Yesyoor. You've definitely got some great programming going on in this serene cart.

Looking forward to seeing you write games later. :)

@dw817 thanks this really cheers me up!
The code is still a bit chaotic, I will clean it up eventually. I also plan to add melting so the numbers can't overflow. But this will include dropping the pixels above, I got some idea already to solve this without too much calculation, we will see :D Since - as I read in your other post - we won't make it into this years' calendar, there is a lot of time to add more until 2020 :D:D

ah btw, do you got an email address or insta? I can send you a prototype of my current 2d game :)

Sure, Yesyoor. You might do better reaching me on DISCORD. My # there is #9984. If not that you can reach me on Writer's Cafe where I write books.

That address is:

http://www.writerscafe.org/dw817
and
https://www.writerscafe.org/mail/new/539658/

You may need to create an account but that is the best way to reach me as at least every Tuesday I am writing new book chapters there and checking my mail besides.
