Hello!
This is Random Dungeon! It is a platformer game with a randomly generated map.
You are trapped inside this dangerous dungeon filled with arrow traps, spikes, and bloodthirst bats. You have to find the key to open the gate and reach the safety of the outside world!
Controls:
z = jump
x = punch and open trunks
z+x and arrow keys = offset the camera view to sneak peek the next room.
Version 1.1 notes:
- bug fix related with the lightning.
- improvement on the camera offset to sneak peek the next room.

Enjoy!
Pretty cool. But I'd avoid placing arrow traps in tiles 1 or 16 of the screen, because nothing says "no fair" like going to a new screen and getting instakilled from something you can't even see.
Hi TonyTheTGR,
Thanks for the feedback!
As the map is created randomly, sometimes the arrow traps are placed close to the edge of the rooms. To avoid the no fair instant kill you can use x+z and arrow keys to look over the edge of the screen.
I hope you have fun with the game :)
Why do a screen-by-screen scrolling? Why not implement continuous scrolling with the character kept more or less in the middle? The edges are really the killer areas and peeking one tile doesn't warn you about bats.
Hi Joelalarson,
Thanks for the feedback!
The screen-by-screen scrolling was intended to give the perception that the player was walking through the many rooms of the dungeon.
Indeed, the edges are dangerous...
Do you think the game ends up to be too hard because of that? Maybe my perception of the game is biased because I played it too many times while testing it...
Hi guys!
Random Dungeon was reviewed by Stephen and Jake on the podcast Scratching the Itch! Episode 17 Pico-8 games. It was a great honor to be cited by these guys! Thanks a lot!!
