Press Z or X to enable the mouse cursor when running on desktop. Please note: exact sound timings seem to be different depending on the platform that PICO-8 is running on, and so far, I've only got this working properly on desktop!

Picunki is a little musical toy based off the 'Sprunki' series of apps (which themselves are based off the 'Incredibox' web-games). Drag icons onto the characters to play different layers of a musical loop. Click or tap on characters to reset them.

This is a present for the 5th birthday of my son, Hershel. It's been wonderful to discover new things while chasing his interests! If you have musically-curious young kids, my highest ambition is that they might have a few seconds of fun with this :)

Fun toy and and nice composition in all its combinations.

It took me a while to understand that the characters only do things once the cycle restarts, but I soon got used to that.

Could this orange fellow be made a bit louder relative to the others? The other seven seem well balanced, but I can't really hear the orange as soon as I start any of the others singing.

@Cowirrie Thanks so much for checking it out, I really appreciate it! Balance was a tricky issue—putting that character 1 level louder sounded too loud to me, but I admit where things are at the moment is an imperfect compromise!

Did you play this on desktop? Did the timing of the musical loop sound okay to you? I've only tested it on my desktop and some mobile devices, and while the timing is quite consistent on desktop, it's a fraction of a second out on mobile devices in a really jarring way. I'm considering rewriting it to test the native playback speed at startup and adjust animation and loop length accordingly (at the moment, it's a hardcoded 498 frames).
