Super Cake Cutter is a weird game I made, inspired by a weekly struggle suffered by my D&D group. Divide the cake evenly into the required number of slices. Watch out for strawberries, they make a slice more valuable!

Controls:
Arrows/D-Pad: Move current cut point
Button 1/Z: Cut
Button 2/X: Swap current cut point

Interesting little game, with a simple concept but pretty good execution.

How exactly the strawberries change the value of a piece is poorly explained, however. They seem to effectively double its size? But it's unclear.

You could also consider having a level select with per-level high-scores calculated by how far off the cuts were from being perfectly divided.

@Jusiv Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I thought about having some more features like level select and saving but I was losing motivation on the project and just wanted to get it out of the door. Maybe I'll go back to it in a while.

You're probably right about the Strawberries. If you're interested they actually are like adding +150 area to a slice, but the mechanics could definitely be clearer.

Hmm I don't think adding a fixed amount is very intuitive, since area is such an abstract thing. The results screen also does not communicate the +150 thing at all, as all it ever says is +1.

I personally think making it double the value of a slice would be a lot more intuitive and user-friendly, since you don't have to arbitrarily estimate how big of a chunk 150 area units is.

Kind of soothing, although also, somehow, subtly disturbing. I think it's the music.

The art is superb and I'm impressed by the tech, that it recognizes slices and can count their area.

Fun idea and with good mechanics. However, I agree with Jusiv that letting strawberries act as doublers is more intuitive and makes scoring independent of scale.

The music track seems a bit ill-fitting. To me, it feels more appropriate for an eerie/horror/dungeon type game. For a puzzle game, especially one with a birthday cake, I'd expect a more upbeat tune.

Thanks for the nice feedback. I picked the music somewhat hastily, I was going for a kind of chilled out vibe but I guess I chose badly. I should probably try and improve my music skills enough to make my own background music. :)
