Grave Matters
I'm proud to release my first PICO-8 game just in time for Halloween.
It's a short adventure platformer with spooky music inspired by Beethoven and Andrew Gold.
Enter into a graveyard full of spiders and bats.
Help a ghost find its lost gem and witch brew her potions.
If you're having trouble with the bats, select "Easy Mode" from the pause menu.
Happy Halloween!

Updates:
- Add menu option to show the game timer.
Delightful. And music is quite creative using and varying instruments. Looks like there are treasures to find in the game. Adding to that here is a gold star for you.
I like how you decided to implement a 3 lives system instead of insta death like your previous version. Really good game overall and very spooky.
nice try, but it took me three deaths before i realised it was cuz i was walking on spikes. they were o stubby i didnt notice thats what they were. also, having to hit a button to pick things up is a bit counter intuitive. your character should always pick things up automatically when they touch them, otherwise you have to go around hitting the button on everything just to see if its collectable or not, apart from that its not bad. nice to see lives for a change. i have missed that so much. these days its pointless even dying in games because you can just arry on anyway, so its like there arent any consequences to dying in game, but when lives are involved, it changes everything. keep up the good work
p.s. the music effing slaps.
Spent a little while on this a few days ago, and just today saw in the description that there's a timer. So I came back and ran it a bit:
It's a bit peculiar that you have to actively grab things, but I don't mind it too much given how short the game is. Wish I'd realized you could just continuously hold z rather than time it, though, as that would've made things simpler.
@hahhah42 - it started out more as an "adventure" game and at the time the interactions made a little more sense. I agree the collectibles would be better if they were auto-pickup. It's pretty much my first game ever so I have a lot to figure out still.
That's an impressive time!
There are a few times on the WIP thread.
I managed 128.66 on normal mode.
@obtabus managed this time:
>After 4 hours and more than 1,000,000 attempts :P
>easy mode: 90.86
>hard mode: 101.29
