Making Of

The game is designed and created by Wei-Fan Chen. The game is fully created with PICO-8. Pixel art and music are both created by Wei-Fan Chen. The journey of creating the game is really enjoyed. I have not use any other software when creating the art and music, everything is in PICO-8, such a wonderful journey. The trailer has been made with Splice app.

This is the second PICO-8 game of Wei-Fan Chen. Thanks to Dylan Bennett's awesome zine Game Development of PICO-8 and Krystian Majewski's Making a Roguelike YouTube tutorial, I've really learned lots of thing from them.

Thank you for playing. Hope you enjoy the game.

Very well done!
A nice twist on the original material.

Thanks, @freds72! I really learned a lot from the community. PICO-8 is a really cool console. Krystian Majewski's tutorial is comprehensive. Based on what I learned, I've also put something interesting and useful:

  1. The sentry mode -- To make it a puzzle game, the alien (enemy) could not always chasing the player. It should guard the original point to keep the puzzle would not be broken. Because of this reason, I've added the "sentry mode" to the alien. As image below, the alien will not leave the red number (the range of sentry mode). Once the player leaves the sight of the alien, the alien will go back to the original point.

    The range is 2:

    The range is 10:

  2. Connection Rage -- The player needs to be close enough to control the plant. Otherwise, the game will shows the searching animation:

  3. Lasers! -- The player needs to drag the cargo to block the laser first. Otherwise, the laser will kill both the player and the plant.

  4. Empty Space where the plant or cargos will drop -- I use it to enhance the puzzle and make the visual more fun. The player needs to avoid falling the plant into space. However, sometimes the player needs to push the cargo to space to keep moving on.

Thanks for the community :)
Love the PICO-8!

I've just reached level 15, and I love it! Charming sound, clear and appealing graphics, and the extra puzzle elements are clever and seem to keep coming. The maps are simple but engaging so far—I'll be curious to see how the difficulty increases from here.

Thanks @mothgram, that means a lot!

Finished it. Wonderful game. Very polished and tricky puzzles. I like how the background stars follow the movement thet B.O.D.A. commands.

I found a little bug, though. In level 29, if you crash the computer with a box that falls into a hole, you can't continue, the fail screen doesn't appear and you have to reset the cart. Screenshots below (contain spoilers)

In this position

Pressing X + Down will cause the box to hit the computer and fall into the hole, leaving the game like this:

Thanks @ChakAttack! Hope you enjoy it.
I've already found the bug and fixed it.

By the way, @weifanchen, during the game I haven't seen the character that appears at the rightmost side in the cast. Did I miss something?

Yeah! @ChakAttack, glad you ask! It is a little easter egg. He is actually me, who always looks like that with a hat. To thank you for playing the game along with other characters.

I must note that you did a very good job, to me this one sounds and looks great! I've already been dealing with something like website page; floristry blogs for me is one of the most interesting blogs, generally I'm the person who adores flowers and everything related to it now your play can become very interesting for me.
