Hello all who see this post! I've been working on a game in pico 8 for around a week and a half and have gotten some pretty good progress in it but I reset my computer and now it won't let me load the project or play it in the splore menu, it did the same thing to an test game I made as well. I'm not sure what to do so if anyone does know what to do to fix this that would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! Can you add some details to help people help you?
Like a screenshot of the file you’re trying to load and a screenshot of pico-8 with the load command you’re typing and the error message.

I can't take a screen shot but I can explain the issue better

I'm trying to load a p8 file
I'm using the ( load [file name] ) method to load my file
When I try to load the files it says could not load
It says the same thing when I try to play the files in the splore menu
When I check the folder the files are still there but they won't load

Did you make the P8 file or download it? Is the file corrupted? (open it with any text editor to see if there’s the code section, then gfx, gff, map, sfx, music)

Is there a space in the filename? Do you write 'load filename' or 'load filename.p8' (both are valid)? Do you see the file in the output of the 'ls' command? Do you see it if you run the 'folder' command to open a file explorer?

I made the p8 file, there's nothing wrong with the name, I tried both load methods, and it still appears in the folder so I would guess that the file is corrupted

Can you attach it here?

Also why can’t you take a screenshot? even a bad photo taken with a phone would help. Or retype the full exact command and error message. It’s really hard to diagnose without details.

It looks like the files are corrupted, I can't get them to do anything. Even if I open them in a text editor there's no code. I'm not sure if there's a way to recover them thank you for your time though!

There are automatic backup saved in the pico-8 config directory (if you haven’t changed the settings for carts directory, you can run 'folder' then go one level up).

It worked! I can get back my file data! Thanks a lot for helping me get my files back!
