This is an experimental thing I am working on.
Title: 3D Ace Pilot Prototype
Genre: 3D Shooter
Difficulty: 1/5 (Prototype, will add stuff later)
Update V2:
- Added progress bar to right side of ship; when full, the level is complete (No level goal yet...)
- Added two more enemy types: Gunner and Mine
- Added Health Powerup (dropped only by Gunners)
- Enemies now "appear from afar" (Thanks Kling)
- Added more sounds, especially one to warn of low health (and the health bar flashes too!)
As Always I am testing out new ideas. This idea revolves around relying on your ship to tell your vital stats like health and current powerup. There is no HUD.
For this prototype, your goal is to survive as long as you can.
There is only 1 basic enemy. As I build upon this cartridge more enemies and soon powerups will be added.
[[WARNING: Native version only, as of V2 the Web version is currently defunct and cannot play this cartridge!]]
looks great! I love the idea of the health bar to be in the ship, really cute too.
about your enemies, it could have a warp in animation, like, since you're using the moving white voxels to look as stars the ships could also begin tiny and then bigger like and aproach animation when warping in.
How fast on the approach are we talking here?
So far I have got them to be rather quick appearing, and another enemy to be a tad bit slower in appearing (however there is barely a difference :P)
And yes I did say another enemy. The Update to the prototype is coming soon.
Fun. Reminds me of Buck Rogers. Only one small issue; if you don’t destroy the enemy ships fast enough they will end up level with or ‘behind you’ and immune to your lasers.
Not quite flux.
I'll give you a hint: There is a bug where the IJKL keys change the facing of the ship. Pressing X while facing left or right will fire at the side. Of course there is no use firing behind you :P
I really don't know how to fix that, to be honest. I guess you just have to be a bit fast.
Interesting. Yeah, on subsequent plays I was used to the relatively slow speed of the player ship and inertia. This allowed me to stay ahead of the enemies for an extended period of time.
What does a momentarily appearing ship or mine with an exclamation point next to it indicate?
When there is an exclamation point beside the enemy (ship or mine), that usually signals the fact that that enemy type is now appearing. You start out with UFOs, then comes the Red ship (Gunners) and then the mines. The reason the mines are last is because they do tons of damage if you collide with them.
This next update focuses on sound n stuff, so this may take a while...
In fact is there any willing person here in the BBS wanting to try their hand at making music for my game?
