Hi

I thought I'd have a go at making something myself that I could play on my LED matrix display and seeing as I haven't done any Lua or Pico-8 before, I picked something to re-create, rather than come up with something new from scratch.

I always liked this on the C64, so here is my attempt at it so far. Still plenty to do;

Picidium (Uridium)

[edit, added title tune and a few other tweaks]
[edit2, added control option]

Wow. This looks so authentic.
Played the heck out of the C64 version back in the day.

Did you copy the level layouts exactly? (I can't remember it well enough to tell.. Although level 1 feels very much like I remember.)

Thanks, it great to have a bit of feedback. Yeah I based the levels on the original as much as I could, although I’ve only added around six levels so far and I think I’ll only have space for about 13 of the original 15. I also just about ran out of room for tiles/sprites so I’ll have to improvise the later level visuals a bit (but try to keep the layout).

Had another go at this, and it a heck of a lot of fun.

What do you think about having o as a dedicated roll button?
I always find it difficult to get the ship on its side (C64 version included).

Of course if you're going for as authentic a conversion as possible (i.e. 1 button only) I respect that.

Hey, nice to know someone gave it a go, it was fun to make (although I have slacked off a bit making the later levels and enemy ship patterns). I totally agree about the controls and I thought the same. I had it with two buttons for a bit, but went for the original one button approach in the end. I think I will add an option to use ‘O’ instead. I reckon if the c64 had more than one button it would have been used.

Very nice, I used to play that one a lot in Spectrum.
