I've been working on a simple golf game on and off for the past week or so and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm not entirely sure what I want to include with it, but I'd like to try and make the gameplay mechanics slightly different to the "norm". I've got a few ideas written down and I'm keen to lock the scope of the project in place and start getting things done.
The course in the gif below is mixture of predefined variables and a procedural generation process which I'm excited to fill out a bit and I look forward to sharing more as and when!
Yeah I think I'll not call it "Stupid" golf anymore, I had an idea for a few different games where the controls and mechanics would be a bit silly, however I don't really feel like doing that for this anymore!
hello everyone, I made good progress today with wind, aiming and the beginning of a shot interface, the game is aware of your lie, but it doesn't have any impact (yet!)
The code is a right mess but I'm still happy with how things are going.
I need to tidy up the user experience a lil bit but I'm almost in a position where you can actually play golf!
Added a fair bit since my last update, there are now more clubs and code for a proper 9 hole course (still need to design them). I should be able to have multiple courses actually.
There is now a gui which tells you a bit about your lie and how it will affect your shot with the selected club.
Good progress! The GUI looks almost done for me. What's left is the wind direction and intensity.
Thanks rag, that part is actually complete too, it just happened that there was no wind for the shot in the gif
picogolf is ready!
You can play it here : https://picogolf.chrismingay.co.uk/
I'll upload it to lexaloffle later on, thanks for all of the interest :)
