Hi!
That's my first attempt at a PICO8 game: Camel Race.
In the late eighties, when I was a child, my first ZX Spectrum BASIC game was a totally random camel race. Now my son is eight, he's started learning to code, and we've made a "modern" version.
Comments are very welcome!
Last update for today: In each difficulty level, more possible keys are added.
First complete version, although still needs some polishments.
Now, you race a row of three races, in every difficulty level.
My first thought was that this would be either a standard racing game, or one where you mash the "run" button, but this is a "match the pattern" game instead, very interesting.
The presentation is pretty nice, especially the music, and the random racer names is a fun touch. I noticed the difficulty ramped up really fast, though, not because of more complex patterns, but because the other racers became much faster. You might try toning that down a little.
Thanks for your comments.
I've tuned a little the difficulty in the higher levels, and added a boost when you sync your movements with the flag, so there's always a way to advance faster if you're lucky.
I think I'd call it a release candidate, if no bugs are found.
