I had a lot of fun exploring these strange, melancholic caverns. it's all very thematically cogent-- I like how your main weapon for defeating enemies is more or less waiting for them to die, for instance.
the pixel art is really good too! the protagonist's animations in particular have a really strong sense of movement, the fire animations are pretty and nice to watch, and the backgrounds have an appropriately somber color palette to them.
my only real nitpick is that there probably should be some sort of audio cue that you've taken damage. that, and there's a hole in the top of the map that you can walk through and go out-of-bounds.
anyway, congrats, this game is dripping with personality and intent, and I'm sure I won't soon forget it!
