hi zep, i was wondering if you had considered porting voxatron or your other games to android as this cool new console (OUYA) is coming out. You probably already heard of it of course, biggest kickstarter response ever! Its based on the shareware model, the first level or levels are free then you can choose whether or not to get the whole game. Im hoping to put some games on it one day via Gamemakers android porting capabilities.

also just curious what anyone thinks of the OUYA as a way to play pc/mac games with a nintendo/playstation type controller. Personally im really excited if it works out.

p.s. it already has (kinda) dual stick so would fit your controls. merry xmas!

Yes, for sure. I want to eventually port Voxatron to everything that it can sensibly run on (minus the editor). I haven't looked at Ouya closely yet but it seems quite well suited.

If OUYA doesn't work out, I think something similar will. Hardware is getting so cheap, and current consoles so developer-unfriendly, that it's a good situation waiting to happen.

Just make sure to make it compatible for ARMv6 and QVGA devices.

thanks tom.k i did some research after reading your comment. i wasnt aware that the latest gmaker had dropped ARMv6 recently. Its because apple has dropped it for armv7.

D' oh why does tech have to become obselete so fast?

hmm youd think with over-population and pollution that devices like this would have a longer shelf life. does that make all those old iphones more landfill/paperweight?

Would love to Voxatron on Raspberry Pi alongside Minecraft Pi Edition ( http://pi.minecraft.net ). :)

I have a Pi now and will probably end up porting everything to it (:

good to hear!!! It seems everything is moving over to ARM based processors --

@zep Can I suggest some developer to help you with porting games to Android whenever possible (or vice versa if possible)?

Sure, I'd appreciate it (you can mail to joseph at lexaloffle dot com). It will be a while before I look at doing extra ports though.

@zep I bought it on Humble Bundle and I still love it! Is there a way to get the ports of the game, when the ports are done?
edit:// I didnt saw Lexaloffel Account Activation code on the humble bundle site :)

@zep . any news about a pi port? I have my raspberry pi since a few weeks and it would be great to play voxatron on it.

BTW: I have "married" my pi with a good old dreamcast arcade stick and I am really hot on it to play voxatron with it :)

I haven't had a chance to work on the pi port recently, but duly noted! Maybe after 0.3? It will eventually show up as an extra downloadable on the 'My Games' page.

This would be great :)
