A demo by Matt Current. Released in 2019 at Vortex IV, second place in the demo compo.
NOTE: This demo deals with the theme of suicidal thoughts. Not in a particularly graphic or explicit manner, but if that's a trigger for you, you should be aware of the content before viewing the demo.
Ideation or not I really don't know why suicide has to crop up so often in these good demos. And I'm to speak, right ? Right ?
No ? Yes. Yes I am to speak.
Well my life's history is in my books so yes I've been there, and no, no-one needs to be there. Not at all.
If this is more than a passing fancy, may I suggest Seroquel. It works. I know. Been on it now for many many years.
Keeps the demons at bay is the best way I can describe it.
@dw817 Thank you for sharing that. As for myself, I don't want to get into too much detail on an open forum, but let's just say that I've needed, seeked, and received help, and now I'm glad to be alive and see what life brings.
That's why I made this demo - not just to dust my own cobwebs, but to maybe reach someone else who's going through a dark time and give them the message that it's ok to be vulnerable, it's ok to admit that and it's ok to reach for help. If I've succeeded in that, then I've succeeded with this demo.
I like the part of redemption you mention in the video, @jobe. Some of the last demos I've seen, not just in Pico-8 idolize suicide and do not show a way out.
As it is I'm outpatient for many years now. See a doctor every week, and we talk.
And I have no doubt in my mind now that if you're damaged goods in some way, whatever happened in your past or the hand that you've been dealt, then you can definitely program your salt's worth today. Or you have some amazing skill few others do.
And you are a good example of this. Fine coding. Redemption. Star for you.
I recommend a video you may find of interest called, "Caldera."
