I can't seem to figure out how to get copy/paste to work on selections in the room...is there a way to do this? I.E. I place some floor tiles down, i would be quick to keep doubling how many I'm working with using select->copy/paste ...

There's a "stamp copy buffer" button in the toolbar at the top: if you select something with ctrl+c and click that, you create a copy of everything you selected and you can place it anywhere (i don't know if you can rotate it, though)

weird cause the dialog would say i copied room...i'll give it a shot.

Okay, got it to work. Thanks peeps. :) Also, it didn't require me to CTRL+C. I just hit the button after select. :D
