Yer a wizard, Harry! Challenge other wizards to duels and take down their wizard tower by spawning monsters that will attack your enemy!
Choose the right monster for the job, and secure the two crystal towers in order to get more power than your opponent.
Beware! The wizard who falls first is left embarrassed and laughed at without pity…

Created for the 4th Alakajam! and the Monster Mix and Mash Jam!
I like the music. The stats and such on the monsters was hard for me to pick up quickly, but I haven't played a lot of this sort of defense game so it might just be me. I just sort of tossed whatever I could out on the lane where there was an attacker and hoped for the best.
If you wanted to expand on it.. I think animating the characters would add a lot. The 'attack' frame they do is fine, I just mean having them also 'tween' to their next node during the turn count down, I mean.
I also think the art is well done, but the units would benefit from a border.. either 1 px black, or maybe either '1' (navy) or '2' (maroon) based on the owner of the unit. I usually do something like this:
function pspr(id,x,y,outline,w,h) w = w or 1 h = h or 1 for i=0,15 do pal(i,outline) end for ix=-1,1 do for iy=-1,1 do spr(id,x,y,w,h) end end for i=0,15 do pal(i,i) end spr(id,x,y,w,h) end |
hey, thanks for feedback! I might use the code snippet - I agree that it looks a bit weird when the sprite and background merges.
As for animations - I am working on an updated version with a "campaign" style thing added, and there is just not enough sprite data to have animations for all the troops, hence this simplification! (also I struggle with art :))
Nah I just meant to have them 'glide' along. No need to use different frames.
i played two games
lost 1st, won 2nd
It was pleasant but I don't see any replayability
Also I don't think the archer is attacking from distance
