I've been working on this for a while, I decided to finally add the finishing touches and submit it. It's very loosely inspired by an old ASCII mode DOS game called Kingdom of Kroz, if anyone remembers that series.

It's kind of an action game with a puzzle game feel. You can throw boomerangs and place bombs like bomberman. There's 31 different screens to play through, and I tried to add a lot of variety throughout. You eventually get extra lives, so don't despair if it seems really hard at the beginning.

Okay, nice ! It would benefit from indicating the level you're at.

I agree with firefly

This is very nice!

I found the initial levels harder than the rest as you're scrambling to read the level quickly and find some weapons. Later on you are so well equipped there is hardly any real challenge. Still quite fun to play

This is great! I'm on a rabbit trail from learning what ZZT is to seeing if anyone has recreated anything like it in Pico-8 and I stumble upon this GEM that takes me back to my days wandering around KROZ for hours upon hours!

Many times it bounces between too hard and too easy. If you have enough weapons, it is always too easy. Maybe tweak the levels so the player has just barely enough weapons to finish the level. This would increase difficulty and force players to be more strategic. Other than that it was very fun, good work! I was definitely getting some Bomberman vibes.

Any chance of making a turn-based version, @jcruz0x ?

Those monsters are just too fast for me, especially when I'm crowded in.
