So here's the portal room I'm working on, I lifted the turrets (nicer than the ones I made from memory) and portals from eamonn's excellent portal adventure and modified them a bit to suit my own taste. Everything else from scratch.
Planning on making all the objects you could want to build a test chamber, and I'll update this post when I make new thingies, but for now there's just what you see, I may change some things (cubes) and I'm going to keep the scale more or less correct for the robot.
It's obviously not going to have a working portal gun but I'll make everything I can.
Tried swapping the model for the little red shooty guys with one I made of a turret but no dice, so here's hoping an enemy editor is in the works.
Nice, but make an adventureout of it, still some work needed I give overall 7.5/10
Thanks, and yeah, it's far from complete.
First I'm going to try to make every object you come across in portal, then there will be an adventure, complete with working portals and any puzzles I can manage to do.
If you need help to make working portal, look at my advanced portal room, download it :)
I figured out the portal thing and spent last night playing around with duplicate rooms and "portals". The effect is quite convincing and I'm sure there's a lot I can do with it so I'm going to keep experimenting.
New stuff soon as I make it :D
nice, but you know that you dont have to make a new room, you look at my maps for the how to ?
I will probably use a combination of your one-room method and the one I devised by playing around. There's some things I want to try that will definitely require two or maybe even more rooms.
Still making stuff BTW, so far I'm only featuring items from Portal but I was thinking about throwing in some things from Portal 2... My only concern being that the more elaborate design of Portal 2 might not jive as well with voxels. Maybe it should even be a follow up.
Any thoughts?
Also, I was thinking about things I wish I could do with the editor, and some sort of animated object tool would be brilliant.
Even with only two switching models (or frames or whatever you'd like to call them in this case) you could create some really neat things.
Blinking lights, map markers, machinery etc. could all be made to move around and make the world more interesting. And with more frames, even more interesting things could be made.
But I am severely rambling, is there a thread for this kind of thing?
