Sk8Border is a collaboration by Leif Halldór Ásgeirsson, Marc-André Toupin and Ben Wiley for the Anti-Fascist Game Jam.
Works in mobile browsers!
Hold Z or X to crouch, release to jump (Ollie). Do a tail or nose grind with Z or X. Rack up a nice combo to take down the wall!
More details and play instructions are at the game's official site. We recommend playing it on mobile there since we have specially tailored controls, and vibration support!
The game is "finished," but comments are always welcome.
This is really really cool. I don't have sound on my current device so I cannot judge that aspect but man this is a cool concept and really well designed. It feels so fluid, the gameplay does. The jetboard mode after a wall crumble is really a pro-design choice, whoever came up with that, my hat is off to them!
Thanks! The jetboard was Marc-André's creation. We knew we needed a way to recover to the next wall without getting knocked to the ground (which was annoying) and I had suggested a parachute, but along the way it became this instead which was a much better idea imo!
By the way, I hope you do get the chance to hear the music and sound effects, as those were my main contributions to the game! 😄
Okay just got home where I could heard sound and stuff, it's really good! Also, after playing some more I decided the game needs like a 1/4 second or so of coyote time for vertically catching the wall. Basically even if you're a little below the wall or right at it and you press the button again it should sort of snap you to it for a more solid feeling and to be a little more forgiving.
One little thing with the music, probably not worth changing but it's just how my head works, the more i listen the more like it's saying "THAT WALL DOWN" instead of "DOWN THAT WALL", but again, that's super silly and minor and just my head. lol
This game is on point. Amazing sound, graphics, fun concept, and a message to boot. Big ups!
This is a creative way of putting political elements into a video game. Good job.
