sorry I didn't spot the reply sooner, but yeah I'm cool with that Tassilo :)
Really charming puzzle platformer but "this is a tricky one"? More like "this is a frustrating one" ;)
would love to see what you would make with more!
Dusk Child makes good use of PICO-8's limitations. I didn't really feel like you were limited in terms of level design. Each room has a purpose, and there were some basic puzzles that scratched a little Metroidvania itch.
I really enjoyed the mechanic introduced in the latter half of the game, and feel that if the concept were explored (on a less limiting medium), it could create a unique puzzle platforming experience.
That said, I didn't like the slippery movement or the static-height jump. Perhaps it was a design decision in light of PICO-8's limitations (not quite enough buttons). If so, ignore that criticism. If you ever explore the concept more, refining the platforming would be the best way to improve it, imo.
Overall, I think it was solid. I'm a somewhat jaded gamer and it held my attention enough to finish it, so you got a star. :D Best of luck on your next game!
This took me forever to complete. It was an odd game, but I liked it.
This game is great! I haven't finished it yet but I'm working on it. :)
This is incredible. I love the fire sprite and the statues are beautiful.
Took me a while to complete, but what a lovely game! Nice animation especially on the fire and how it affects the environment.
Agree with other commenters that the last set of spike jumps was a bit of an exercise in frustration!
Brilliant fun! Played it through in about 30 minutes which was pretty much perfect while awaiting my pizza.
Excellent work, @SophieHoulden!
