Updated
Ran out of tokens, I will call it a day :) It's rather short, but it should be somewhat original and challenging I hope :)

Started this for CGA Jam 2017 but was (as always) too late and spend way more time

I'm most happy with the blood particles and fighting mechanics :P

Includes code from basic platformer kit by mhughson.

Buttons

  • Down - Block / Action (Talk to friendlies etc.)

Fun! Are you planning on expanding to multiple levels? Also, when you die, it would be great to have some animation or something letting you know that happened. At first I thought I just glitched back to the beginning.

Fun. I like it. I really enjoy how it reminds me really simple things can be put together to create a world. I also fondly remember Ultima I-IV. I'm guessing that they had to be built that way due to the time period.

My only moment in playing that I didn't understand was the white line that finishes or frames the game space above it, the one the is under the buildings and above the words 'City of Mordi'. It reads to me like solid ground. Like the ground I'd be running and jumping on. I was very surprised to find that I'd died when I fell through it. I learned though, but it reads different than it acts to me.

Looking forward to seeing where it goes!

Hi, thanks for the comments, planning to expand it. I will think about the white line :)

Just as a second opinion regarding the white line: to me it immediately read as a screen divider and not ground. So I imagine you'll get a mix of responses from people about it.

Jack Daniels is ruining our city!! Lol. John Jameson would never do that. Well, maybe he does in the next city. I didn't damage the lvl. 1 boss yet.

Grats on finishing. Be it late, no big. You finished. I tried a get a submission out to the CGA Jam and didn't, so I didn't finish. BUT You did!! I did get a few springboard ideas out of it.

The same for trying my hand at the FC_JAM (fantasy console jam 2017), it goes from July 1st to the 14th. Again, I don't know if I'll finish in time but I am getting so much outta trying. I've learned the importance of a design doc for myself specifically to keep me going forward and not just moving around making messes laterally.

Ok, did a final version as I ran out of tokens. Hope you find it a bit fun and original, let me know what you think if you bother to play it all the way to level 3 :)
