I always wanted to make a virtual fish tank with agents to keep at the corner of my screen while I worked.

This cart is the result of some procastination this week. Just look at the fish swim, and relax.

Suggestions of things to add to the fish tank are welcome! Sprites are even more welcome! I'm a shoddy sprite artist.

Also, on linux it seems that Pico-8 gets super slow when its window is not on focus. Does anyone know a workaround?

EDIT: New version, with sharks and octopus.

New version -- Shark and stalking octopus

I really like this idea, but it seems too busy. The fish moving so quickly and the camera following the fish is sort of disorienting. I'd also try to make the movements smoother. Right now the fish will jump back and forth between positions almost every frame.

Are you having everything move fast to compensate for Pico-8 running at half-speed when the window isn't in focus?

The camera follows Fish0 because I wanted to eventually make it move left over right (or vice versa) to give the thing a "travelling" impression, as different things show up in the background.

I agree it is a bit busy though. I wanted to make it possible to see both the top and the bottom, but maybe I can make the camera lag a bit more in addition to slowing the speed down?

What would you suggest for smoothing the movement? I have quite a bit of difficulty making very small things move without the movement becoming jarring, and increasing the speed seems to be the only way that I've found to reduce this effect :-/

The screenshake is a bit of a joke, I would probably reduce it greatly or remove it at a later iteraction.

(I didn't actually do anything to compensate for the half-speed when not in focus)
