If I could get Splore to quit using the controller then integrating it into RetroPie will be complete! (bonus points for getting ps3 dpad working vs analog stick, but at least analog stick is useable)

You mean quit PICO-8 entirely, right? Not just get out of splore and then be dumped back onto the PICO-8 command line?

If so then I heartily join you in this request :) and I believe this may have been brought up on the BBS before, in fact.

I have a shortcut to PICO-8 in Steam Big Picture Mode but in order to quit I have to tell the Steam overlay to force kill the app every time; this feature would be a win for controller-based launchers of all kinds!

All we need is a quit() command. Hell, we have reboot right?

I think there is one, called shutdown() .

Is there a reason why we can't have a "shutdown" option in the splore menu? Like gltovar mentioned, this would make RetroPie integration complete.

There's a splore menu coming in 0.1.11 that will have a shutdown option when using the -splore switch. Currently (0.1.10) X, O and MENU buttons all do the same thing in the splore (launch the current cart), but in 0.1.11 the menu button will bring up a menu similar to the in-game pause menu:

SHUTDOWN PICO-8

Great news! Thanks for the update, zep!

Thank you :)

yay!

I just wanted to join in with the enthusiasm for this feature here. I'm currently getting PICO-8 running on my Raspberry Pi through RetroPie and Emulationstation. It's working great, I can select a game and it boots straight up, but then I'm trapped.

Since I'm not using Splore, Can this "shutdown" menu item be added to the main cartridge menu too please?

Horray for the perfect Retropie integration!

Perfect place for a classy console like the pico8 :D
