“A babe, a stogie, and a bottle of Jack. That's what I need right now.”
Duke mused on his recent defeat of the Rigelatins, his voice raspy even in his thoughts. After single-handedly saving Earth -again- he was ready for a long period of lying the hell down.

“And no more freakin' aliens.”

Just then, a white-hot plasmatic blast punched through the hull of his cruiser. Klaxons flared, warning lights flashed, and static filled his monitors. He flipped on his comm.

“Hey, anybody out there? I got a little probl...” Duke started.
“Mayday! Mayday!” the radio replied. “Los Angeles is under attack! There are aliens everywhere, and they've mutated the LAPD. Is anyone there? We need help!--”. The transmission went silent.

"Great," Duke grumbled as his careening ship missed a skyscraper. "What's the problem with all these aliens attacking Earth anyway? How many alien races have to get their asses kicked?"
Duke slammed his fist into the waiting eject button.

"I guess one more."

So, this is an extensive mod of Star Beast by electricgryphon.
It adds ammo, music, and changes almost everything to be Duke Nukem themed.
What I have to say - just have fun! Because of Pico-8 limits the Doom-style original can't be recreated.

Wow well done! Really ambitious to pull this off with pico 8. Awesome work with the sound design too :)

Wow, I am really impressed with the amount of detail this cart offers! REALLY well done!

Awesome! I'm loving the raycasters showing up in pico. I think I'm probably going to tackle something with a raycaster in a future project.

I dunno why people keep praising this when the game this was based off, Star Beast, is so, so much more pleasant to look at and so much more playable.

The reconverted graphics are garbage, the limited ammo count is made worse by the fact there's no melee weapon at all, some of the eyecandy that made Star Beast look good is removed for the sake of... looking different, really, I don't see any other valid reason.

Oh, and the game starts on a different map depending on whether you actually let the story cutscene (with horrid text wrapping) play or not.

So yeah, go play the aforementioned Star Beast instead.

Part of the beauty of the pico community is the open source nature of the games. Electric Gryphon's Star Beast is great, and it's even more awesome that he has allowed others to use his Raycast framework to create other works (such as this one).

What's the point in criticising the work of someone who is having a go? If you don't like it, why don't you make it better?

Amazing!
