This is a small "demake" of Alone in the Dark. You can explore and find your way out of the top two floor of the mansion. I tried to keep it close to the original, but there is no fight (if you see an enemy you will die) and the interaction system is simpler. The 3D meshes of the characters are ripped from the original game.
I used a plugin I made to export meshes from Blender with color per triangle and I modified a mesh stripping sample from coder corner to load, strip and convert meshes to character strings. You can find my version (to use with Visual 6) here.

@zep I'm glad I finaly put the effort to make the two characters fit in the same cart. It's much better like that. I was also struggling to make everything fit in ram when using 0.1.6 but 0.1.8 saved me by doubling the ram capacity. I was forced to destroy and recreate only what was needed for each screen. Now I still need to do that, but it's much easier.
Any chance of some kind of post-mortem on this? Would be great to find out how you've managed it and how it renders! Really nice!

Yes, I would love doing an homage to Little Big Adventure 2 ! It was so cool you could simply recompute the background from the camera whenever you wanted. This will fit the limitation of my engine, but it's quite a lot of work ...

This is the kind of game that really does the pico 8 justice. It's so technologically impressive and artistically inspired to cram all the atmosphere of this game into a console that could've come out ten years before Alone in the Dark was released on PC.
