In the last few weeks we made a PICO-8 arcade for the Screenshake 2016 festival.
In our design we wanted to combine the comfort of playing the games using classic arcade controls with the ability for festival visitors to develop games as well. We also printed out some fanzines.

The arcade as shown at the festival:

The design in SketchUp and the first prototype:

The arcade was designed & built by Devillé Arcade.

I saw a shot of that on twitter yesterday, I think. It's really great! I keep (very idly) daydreaming about getting a P8 cabinet put together, so it's nice to see one in action.

Awesome arcade! Tried it myself and made me get into it =)

Thanks for the kind words :)

A small update:

  • Our Square Pushbuttons finally arrived!
  • We added a dedicated SPLORE button in the middle. (still missing in the photo's though)
  • The arcade is now powered by a Raspberry Pi 3.

More pictures!

Is there a P/Pause button?

Also, as a RPi3 owner who's been fighting with getting the software running, do you have an image you could share?

We added the Pause/SPLORE button later on (orange button in the middle):

We used the latest Raspbian (Jessie) on the Raspberry Pi.
Can't remember the exact problems we ran into, where did you get stuck?

We're actually still stuck on switching the keyboard layout from QWERTY to AZERTY (local layout here in Belgium), we changed it in Raspbian but the change doesn't carry over to PICO-8. Any pointers are welcome!
